A few years ago while working up in Leamington Spa I discovered they had very good charity shops. Sticking to my Scottish roots I picked up quite a few bargains and my wardrobe has probably never been as full. To me second-hand was great. I had some great clothes and still had money in the bank.
However my mum was aghast that I would buy and wear clothes someone else had worn. Somebody I didn't even know. To her second-hand was just not good enough.
Read this quote today by Matt Chandler which suggests one area that second-hand just does not work.
"Avoid myths, pursue godliness. When all you know about God is learned through someone else’s relationship with God, you cannot truly know him."
