God is behind it

Genesis 45 v 5

On revealing his true identity to his brothers Joseph tells them not to be afraid and then makes an incredible statement.

God was behind it. God sent me here ahead of you to save lives.

A few short words but pungent with meaning. Joseph had experienced huge things in his life.

* Beaten up by his brothers
* Separated from his father
* Sold into slavery
* Accused of rape
* Falsely condemned and imprisoned for years
* Let down by his friends

Sometimes we think if the car wont start God is against us. In today’s Christianity I think someone would have been telling Joseph he must of sinned or offended God. God was punishing him for some wrong doing. But it would seem that even when EVERYTHING was going wrong he was in the centre of God's plan.

Reminding myself today that God's plan in not always going to be blessing it is a journey of faith when things are dark. In Josephs words:

God was behind it.
