This made me fall over laughing. (By posting it I'm not making a comment on homosexuality so don't get all upset - I just thought it was funny)

Pastor Mark comes a cropper
Pastor Mark Sherratt puts everything into it when preaching at MKCC. This past Sunday he was talking about the "Challenge of Contentment". As part of the preach he decided to give a quick illustration about "Chasing the Wind". Here is what happened next:

Favour with God

When we read about the encounter between the angel Gabriel and Mary to let her know that she was to give birth to Jesus there is a little phrase that always makes me smile.
You have found favor with God! - Luke 1 v 30
It has nothing to do with the passage but the same image flashes across my mind every time I hear the phrase "Favour of God".
I was sitting in a meeting with my friend Mark Sherratt at a well known Theme Park. Our task was negotiating a pricing structure for an even we held there each year. A Christian music event that attracted young people from all over the country. Negotiations were not going well. I had tried everything I knew short of begging but was getting no where.
That's when Mark piped up, surrounded by hard nosed executives with profit, understandably, as their bottom line. Mark basically told them that the favour of God was on the event and because they were hosting it, the favour of God was on their business.
The room went very quiet. Neither I or the business people were sure where to look. So we quickly brought the meeting to an end and said our goodbyes and set off fully expecting that we had run our last event.
A day later we received an email not only taking out all the additional charges that were proposed but we were offered a better deal than we were the previous year!
Either the favour of God was on us or the business was scared they were going to lose it :-)
Either way later that year we saw 100's of young people make a first time decision for Jesus and I will never forget about the favour of God.
A 1000 words will not acomplish what the favour of God will.

Self Baptism or just going for a swim
I'm not really sure what is going on here but they do seem VERY excited to be in church. However baptising yourself is taking it a bit far. (Keep your eyes on the tank behind the pulpit!)
Guaranteed to make you smile if not laugh your socks off!

Sunday morning is coming and it is cool
This video was shown at the recent Drive conference at North Point Church.
This made me laugh so much. But also reminded me that our Sunday gatherings are all about God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit and a supernatural encounter not our formulas or cool ideas. (Although I still like cool ideas. :-) )

Santa to blame for childhood obesity

The Daily Express has reported that "Dr Grills, a public health fellow at Monash University, Australia, has studied the negative impact of Santa’s image on public health in literature and on the web."
It goes on to say:
"His fat and sugar-loaded diet sends out a message that obesity is synonymous with cheerfulness and joviality. His habit of consuming a brandy at every home indicates a serious booze problem and added to that is the more disturbing possibility of Santa drink-driving his sleigh."
So now Santa is to blame for drink driving and obesity.
Frankly I've never liked him since he didn't get me the scalextric I wanted when I was six.

Great things are happening at NewSpring Church in South Carolina but Perry Noble talked this week about a ghost sighting in their auditorium this past week. Watch the video closely then read here for more info.

Rethinking the Radio 4 God Slot
According to the Telegraph the BBC are being asked to rethink their long running "Thought for The Day". It is suggested that Radio 4's three-minute 'God slot' may be in breach of equality law by secularists.
So I thought we could spruce it up by bringing in the Rev I M Jolly.

Cool T shirts. Really?
The telegraph recently published a list of the top 20 coolest christian t shirts available on the web. This was followed by the top 20 coolest atheist t shirts. Check them out here and here.
What does it say about me that most of the christian ones would never appear on my body?

Number 1 reason to run a great Kids Church
A seven-year-old joyrider was stopped by police officers after a car chase in Utah.
Seems like he really did not want to go to church so stole the car and drove home.
We like to think your car will be safe from your children while they are at MKCC.

First Day to Last Day
Today Mark brought to an end our series iwantanewmarriage. We introduced his preach The Ingredients of a happy marriage with the now famous Youtube clip - JK Wedding Dance.
A US College have since done a parody of it called J & K's Last Day. Obviously I am not in favour of divorce and realise that divorce is not funny for anyone but thought the video was hilarious.

Does Jesus play for Tottenham Hotspur Daddy?
BBC Radio 4 is revamping "Thought for the Day". For the uninitiated its a short God slot each day on the BBC's more serious radio station.
Unfortunately every time I here "Thought for the Day" I think about a rip off that a certain Billy Connolly did a number of years ago on An Audience with Billy Connolly.
Great stuff:

Health & Safety Calling
I read in the Telegraph the following headline:
Clergy quitting over poorly maintained vicarages, report finds. (Read full article)
Quoting Unite Union for ministers it said that clergy are quitting their jobs because the Church of England is failing to properly maintain vicarages, according to a report. The sited "Severe health and safety issues".
1. I didn't know that ministers has a union! Maybe I'll join.
2. I'm glad that Jesus didn't get concerned about health & safety issues on his mission. His vicarage had no health and safety issues - he didn't have one.
Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head." - Matt 8 v 20
He also faced the ultimate health and safety issue - he was murdered.

When solution doesn't exactly deal with the problem
The Open Episcopal Church have seen a problem:
"The sense people have to go to places to worship is something their parents did. The churches we work with have got respect for the fact that we're taking the church to places it hasn't been before." YES UNDERSTAND!
"It is a mistake to locate a church as those who gather in a building. There is a large population who have haemorrhaged away from church but regard themselves as committed Christians." OK WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?
"THE HOST IN THE POST" - The Open Episcopal Church has come up with a novel way of extending their reach into the community by offering to send people their communion wafers in the post.
The Daily Telegraph reports: "The postal wafer itself is free but there will be a charge for postage and packing - the postage for one wafer costs £2 while postage for 500 costs £10."
Now if you had given me 100 years to come up with a solution for this problem I still don't think I would have come up with that.
