I acted out of who I was, not by how I felt. - Ezekiel 20 v 9 (The Message)
God was angry with his people Israel. Instead of being addicted to Him they were addicted (v8) to idols. God was angry and probably within his rights to punish. But the Bible records that he didn't act our of how he felt but out of who he was.
Too often I act out of how I feel.
I feel hurt
I feel embarrassed
I feel betrayed
I feel sad
I feel angry
But Ephesians 1 v 3 - 7 paints a picture of who we ARE no matter how we feel.
I am blessed
I am loved
I am chosen
I am holy
I am adopted
I am part of the family
I belong
I am purchased
I am showered with kindness
Lets take God's example and act who we are.
