The Hand of God

A football match played in Mexico City between Argentina and England in the quarter finals of the World Cup on 22 June 1986 will always be known as the Hand of God match.

Maradona, great player that he was, decided to cheat and use his hand instead of his feet to score a goal. In an interview afterwards, when challenged, he suggested it was the Hand of God that scored.

The Bible suggests that that our hand can be the Hand of God but when used for something very different to cheating at football.

Never walk away from someone who deserves help; your hand is God’s hand for that person. - Proverbs 3 v 27
