Road to Nowhere

Psalm 119

v 29) Barricade the road that goes Nowhere; grace me with your clear revelation. I choose the true road to Somewhere.

In 1968, Francis Ford Coppola, then a rising director-screenwriter still in his twenties, bought the film rights to Jack Kerouac’s classic Beat novel On the Road. He sincerely intended to make a film of it, yet, 36 years on, the cameras have still not started rolling. On the Road, hailed as one of the last century’s key novels, has now become one of the great elusive unmade movies.

Coppola had vision, intention, ability, potential, and he eventually after becoming world famous through other movies like his Godfather Trilogy had the power, money and connections to make the movie. But all these years later the Road is still going nowhere.

Each day is a gift from God and we have everything Coppola had to take they journey of life with God by our side choosing the road of God. As the writer of this Psalm says in v 19 "I’m a stranger in these parts; give me clear directions." This is all new to me, the road is difficult and I am not sure what to do next but our travelling companion does.

We are all on a road to somewhere and by listening and following God's direction we can be sure the destination will not be nowhere.
