Rags to Riches

Psalm 113

(v 7 & 8) He picks up the poor from out of the dirt, rescues the wretched who’ve been thrown out with the trash, Seats them among the honored guests, a place of honor among the brightest and best.

We love a rags to riches story. Walt Disney's Cinderella going from put upon maid to meeting a prince or Eddie Murphy in Trading Places transforming from a street beggar to a Wall Street tycoon.

But if we have met Jesus we all star in our own rags to riches classic. He took us at our lowest when everyone else would have looked the other way and even crossed the street to avoid us. He stops, looks us square in the eye, whispers our name, picks us up, cleans us up, dresses us up and puts us in a place where we could not have imagined even in our wildest dreams.

If we live today with that thought in our minds then I have a suspicion we will have a different perspective on life.
