Obedience into maturity

One of the amazing verses that I have heard over and over in Church is 2 Cor 10 v 4

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.

It is often quoted when we are facing opposition or difficulty in church life. I understand that. But sometimes I think we miss what important truth that Paul is trying to communicate here. The context of his writing here is all about fighting and divisions in the church.

Paul is saying that we do differently in the church to the way they settle disputes outside the church. Jesus has given us the tools to do things differently. I love the way The Message puts it in v 6.
Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity. - 2 Cor 11 v 6

Sometimes the stronghold we have to pull down with the divine tools of God are the strongholds of disobedience in our own lives.

Obedience sets us on the higher less traveled path towards maturity.
